Estates - Probate
A forensic genealogist can aid attorneys by determining and proving intestate heirs along with their locations and relationships to the decedent. Heir search cases can also arise when beneficiaries named in a will cannot be located. In addition, Georgia as well as in some other states, requires that if a will names non-relatives as beneficiaries, the next of kin (heirs at law) be notified during a solemn form probate process, even if they inherit nothing.
